Fujikura E150 and E160 Shaft Review

Overview/Technology-

Taken straight from Fujikura, the Fujikura E100 Series which consists of the Fujikura E150 and Fujikura E160, “Proven Technology for the Player Looking to Get Better,” these are words that probably hit home for the majority of golfers out there.  The E100 Series is designed for the good player that wants to take that next step, but just not quite ready for prime time, tour type player that is - this is likely to hit home for a great number of you reading this review.  So let’s take a look at this nice shaft by Fujikura.

Fujikura E150 - this model is fairly light coming in at only 55-58 grams with a with a high spin rate.  The Bend profile is also low making this a shaft that will probably produce more distance given it’s weight and bend profile.

Fujikura E160 - this model is a slightly heavier model than the E150 coming in at 64-66 grams.  The Bend profile is Low to Medium.  This will produce a more piercing ball flight than the E150 but still is considered a high launcher.  Both models are in fact, considered to be a High Launch shaft.

Pros/Positives-

This is a good fit for a low to mid handicapper, probably with a smooth swing.  The higher spin rate combined with a Bend profile lends itself well to a higher ball launch and will be well suited for a good player looking to get better with distance.

Cons/Negatives-

Probably not well-suited for a low handicapper with a strong or fast swing speed.  Again, given the profile of the shaft, it may start ballooning on this type of player.

This shaft may be an “in between-er” for some golfers.  Designed for the better player but some of its characteristics still lean toward the recreational player looking to get better.  The only way you can truly determine if its a good fit for you is to try it out, preferably on a launch monitor.

Overall Rating-

The Fujikura E150 and E160 are very good golf shafts, made by one of the best shaft makers in the business.  Definitely worth giving it a test drive.  Again, we recommend getting trying before buying, preferably on a launch monitor.

Harrison Saga Shaft Review

Overview/Technology-

The Harrison Saga is a new shaft, introduced in 2008, and is known for one of the more stable golf shafts available today.  The low Torque coupled with a mid flex point, makes this shaft tough to beat, especially with its tight dispersion results.

Harrison uses a low twist geometry that allows this shaft to have one of the best shot dispersion in its category (stable, low launch, shafts) appealing to the better golfer.

The Saga definitely is one of a dynamic profile. For example, as the overall shaft stiffness increases, the tip section stiffens up and its resistance to torque drops - by allowing the tip stiffness to correspond to the shaft flex, this allows for better players and average golfers to use the same shaft.  Additionally Harrison tweaked the flex profile of the shaft so that the softer flexes have higher launch angle to appeal to a larger audience.

Actual Player Feedback-

“The Saga turned out the longest with the best dispersion”

Pros/Positives-

The Saga is a very and dynamic shaft that will appeal to the many, better golfers.  It’s low Torque combined with a mid flex point provides all the stability you need in most cases.  In addition, this shaft is most golfer’s price range, a medium priced shaft with great features.  And price is always a big sticking point in this economy.

Cons/Negatives-

Even though the shaft profile is dynamic, the mid bend point and lower Torque will probably scare some away, mostly big hitters.

Overall Rating-

Great addition to Harrison’s high quality shaft line.  When you have Padraig Harrington, K.J. Choi and Rory Sabbatini touting your products, you bound to have some followers.  The Harrison Saga should be no exception - it provides great stability and tight dispersion rates.

Beginners Golf Swing Tips - Improve Your Golf Swing In 1 Day!

As an amateur golfer bent on playing the game just for fun, even then you need to know a few tricks and tips to improve your golf swing. You will play better, almost like a pro and gain a bit of respect while giving your popularity a boost. These golfing tips will help in perfecting your golf swing in a very short time frame allowing you to surprise your golfing buddies the next time you play.

Correct swing tempo

Whenever you make a complete swing you always get the similar tempo, regardless of the kind of club you use. If you can maintain the consistency of your tempo, you will also be able to maintain the consistency in contact and this will lead to accurate shots.

To carry out a perfect swing, your arms must lead and also be able to pull the club back smoothly, while the body to follows. The shifting of your weight will be automatic going from left to right side since the left hip and shoulders turn in unison. Approximately 90% of body weight is now on your back foot when you are performing the top of the swing.

When you are at the top of your swing and wish to gain some accuracy over your shot, pull with your left arm. Leave all aping to the pros, they know what they are doing, since you are an inexperienced golfer this action could cause the golf ball to slide forward causing you to experience slicing and weak shots.

Maintain the balance of your swing

The 3 middle fingers are used to turn the club loose. Your thumb is used for balancing the golf club. The little finger will grip the club only when you are at the top of your backswing. You also have to turn your shoulders to an exact degree in such a way that your target and your club are in line. I always recommend this excellent strategy to place the left thumb below the shaft. This move will keep the club balanced and you will be ready for hitting.

Unless you know how to correctly grip the club, you won’t get a good hold nor will you be able to put it in the proper direction and you are definitely not going to make any spectacular shots. That is because you won’t be able to get the ball through properly.

Fujikura ZCOM Six Shaft Review

Overview/Technology-

The Fujikura ZCOM Six is one of those golf shafts that doesn’t necessarily get the wide-spread praise that some of the other Fujikura shaft receive.  But let me tell you, this is one sweet shaft.

The ZCOM is an ultra-lightweight shaft that increases launch angle and spin and performs extremely well for a wide range of players.  Players from Senior to the PGA tour, all have benefited from this shaft.

Considered to be a medium launch, medium spin shaft.  The higher torque (4.5) coupled with a light weight (range of 52 to 59 grams), makes this shaft a monster for increasing distance and carry.

The ZCOM bending profile allows for a flatter ball flight which is why the better players like this ultra light shaft. For above average to better players with smooth tempos, the ZCOM is truly a shaft built for speed and distance.

Actual Player Feedback-

“The Z Com shafts are premier possibly the best shafts on the market especially the SIX”

“Simply the best distance shaft on the market.  I sell ton’s of these monster’s.”

Pros/Positives-

An Ultra lightweight shaft that will definitely increase ball speed.  This is a proven winner on all tours making this a very versatile shaft - many players will fit well into this profile.  A couple of guys that play the ZCOM?  How about Zach Johnson (fairway) and Luke Donald for starters.  On the LPGA tour, Annika Sorenstam is probably the best known user of the ZCOM.

Cons/Negatives-

Price.  This shaft is an upper end shaft over $200.  Not many people will drop this kind of money.

Overall Rating-

Providing you don’t mind spending extra on a shaft, the Fujikura ZCOM Six is definitely one to try.  The ZCOM is a lightweight shaft that delivers ball speed that produces performance in both carry and distance.  Fujikura should really market this shaft more, many golfers would love this shaft.

How to care for your golf clubs properly

Golf clubs are a necessary purchase if you’re serious about playing the game of golf. Luckily there is a wide range of different brands that cater to beginners with clubs that are very forgiving on your shots and are both affordable and well built. Even so once you have your set of clubs you’ll need to take good care of them to ensure that they last you a long time or at very least until your skill level dictates you upgrade your set.

The first thing you’ll need is a good, sturdy golf bag; this not only gives you somewhere to store your clubs but also can protect your valued investment. A full size golf bag should have reinforced walls; this prevents any crumpling which could bend the shafts of your clubs. Many bags will have multiple pockets for storing golf balls, tees, gloves and any other items like your car keys; this is good as you will be able to empty your pockets of items that may affect your swing and freedom of movement.

A protective covering in the form of a hood or lid to your bag will protect your clubs from the weather as at some point in every golfer’s career they will get caught out in the rain. Water can be bad for the iron in the club heads as over time this can lead to rusting. Also if the water gets down into your bag then it can damage the rubber grips which can be tricky and expensive to replace if they are damaged.

Another way to protect the heads of the clubs is by buying head covers, these come in a variety of materials and styles to ensure that the clubs are again protected from the weather but also from knocking into each other and causing damage that way. Many golfers will normally have novelty covers for their drivers but you can get covers for all your clubs some of which are made of neoprene that is flexible enough to fit any style of club head.

One final measure for those who play golf a lot is making sure you and your equipment are covered from public liability and injury to yourself or equipment damage. Just like how you would protect your car by taking out car insurance, golf insurance can cover any loss, damage or theft of clubs as well as other factors such as personal damage or property damage. If you are serious about your investment in your golf clubs and equipment then protecting them with golf equipment insurance is as important as cleaning or getting a decent golf bag, if not more. You may also want to consider a golf travel insurance policy as well.

Sky Caddie - A Quick Glance

Caddies used to be indispensable for helping golfers get their way on the course, yet with the development of technology. Sky Caddie has become the modern assistant that is not only knowledgeable but also very accurate. What exactly is the job of a caddie? Well, carrying the golf crosses is not exactly everything, the person for the job should have good information on the distances and be able to advise the player according to it. This kind of service enables the golf player to focus his/her attention on the execution of the shots; the general tendency is for professional golfers to have a sky caddy, which clearly distinguishes them from amateurish players.

A Sky Caddie device reduces all the disadvantages of playing on a course one doesn’t know. Sky Caddie is an electronic device that indicates the distances to all potential targets. The The info is recorded after mapping and organized accordingly by the use of high precision survey-grade equipment that stores all the data referring to the different geographical specificity of the golf course. A variant for Sky Caddie, satellite images proved highly affordable but unreliable, and ceased to be used for golfing purposes. Experts rate Sky Caddie as the golf gear item that will save you up to five shots if you use it correctly.

Various types of softwares can be uploaded on Sky Caddie to serve different purposes: thus, commentators at golf championships use the device in order to be able to tell viewers how far the golfers shoot and what the green or hazard rates are. Moreover, the use of Sky Caddie enables the creation of performance statistics for each golfer on every hole in the course. Such applications have brought great Sky Caddie reviews from golfing experts who label it as the most accurate golf GPS system ever designed. All the courses that can be downloaded in Sky Caddie as they have been previously mapped by professionals.

Sky Caddie allows the measuring of both the depth and the shape of the green from any angle and distance on the course. Among the technical features we could count the automatic back-light, the rechargeable battery and the water-resistant case, not to mention that it only requires one hand operation. Nevertheless, there is one disadvantage spotted so far in the design of Sky Caddie: the fact that it has to be kept dry all the time particularly on rainy rounds. Other negative reviews point out the inability to use the mapping system even after uploading the course program. For such cases the buyer needs to contact the manufacturing company in order to get a viable solution to the problem.
